Problem
After reviewing the required power points and reading the article on aging theories (found under the required power points and reading section) complete the following discussion. Answer each question separately. This post must have two external sources (journal articles within the last 7 years, etc.,) to support your discussion.
• After reviewing the required readings for this module, how would you define aging? What are your perceptions of the aging individual and how might that perspective impact on your practice?
• Select one theory of aging from the physiological view and one theory from the psychological/ sociological view. Briefly, describe each of the selected theories and relate each theory to one geriatric syndrome ( Note: Ham's book contains an extended list of syndromes beyond the power point on geriatric syndromes.) Discuss how the advanced practice nurse may use each of the selected theories of aging to facilitate his/ her practice.
