Imagine you were a parent preparing for your child's first preschool experience. What messages would you want to hear from your child's school/teacher?
Paragraph 1
o Introduce yourself (including your background, interests, and knowledge of early childhood education). This should provide a personal, yet professional, sense of who you are as their child's teacher.
Paragraph 2 (This is the focus of your letter!)
o Describe your approach to working with families:
o Define your view of a family centered approach and describe why it is important.
o How do children, families, and educators benefit from this type of approach?
o What are your beliefs about including diverse families?
o What are your beliefs about building community with individual families and among families?
o Why is a partnership with families important to you?
Paragraph 3
o Closing statements regarding your hopes for the school year.
- Do not use "fancy fonts" or specialized notepaper. This should be a standard and professional letter.
- Your letter must be free of grammatical and spelling errors or you will lose points.
