What are two specific reason why it would not be appropriate

Problem

Case Study: Julie

Julie runs a child minding service at the local community centre where children can spend approximately an hour each day while their parents use the fitness facilities. One day a child named Shemar came to play while his moms used the gym. This particular visit was Shemar's first time visiting the facility; upon drop off he appeared to be clinging to one of his parents. While in care Julie noticed that he did not communicate with her using words, he was resistant to engage with other children, and he did not seem torespond when she called his name. As a new ECE she was concerned that this child was not meeting the developmental milestones typical of other 3-year-old children. Although she had only met the child once before she considered conducting a developmental screening.

A. Based on the information from this case study what are 2 specific considerations that should be taken into account related to her observations (Aside from development, why else might Shemar be presenting this way)?

B. What are 2 specific reasons why it would not be appropriate to conduct a developmental screening in this case? Make sure to elaborate and provide enough explanation to justify your thinking (review PP)

C. What are 2 questions you have about this case? Hint-Hint- there may be things you'd like to know more about the child, family, educator, environment to better understand the root of the behavior etc. What would purpose would asking these questions serve/how would knowing this info be helpful?
