A. What are they key parts of a research article?
B. Why do you think it is important for all research articles to follow this general format?
C. Using the library databases or Google Scholar, find a peer-reviewed research article related to your research question/hypothesis. Did the article you chose contain all of the key parts? Were there any missing sections? Were there any additional/extra sections?
D. Summary of the paper you chose. Be sure to identify the:
a. Type of study (Quantitative, qualitative, or mixed? Correlational, descriptive, or experimental);
b. Purpose of the study (Why is the research important?);
c. Research Question and/or hypothesis;
d. Methodology (How was the study conducted? What tools did they use? Who were the participants? How many?);
e. Results/Findings (What were the key outcomes of the study? Were the results expected? Or, were there some surprises?);
f. Conclusions/Discussion (What do the results mean? What are the implications of this research?);
g. Limitations/Next Steps (What are the sources of error that may have influenced the findings? How do the researchers plan to address the limitations in their next study?);
h. Provide the citation for the paper.
