What are the stomata? How these structures participate in the plant transpiration?

The Stomata (singular, stoma) are small specialized passages for gases and water present in the epidermis of the plants. As the plant requires more or less losing water and heating the stomata respectively close or opening, preventing or allowing the passage of gases by diffusion.
