a) What are the main advantages of large-scale data collection, aggregation, and analytics? What are the main disadvantages? Are particular social, cultural, religious, or other groups potentially disadvantaged by contemporary uses of digital data? If so, how should these issues be addressed?
b) Do you think we need a general federal law in the United States that requires any entity that collects, uses, analyzes or shares personal information to give notice of, and obtain consent to, its practices? Why/why not? Identify some of the challenges inherent in creating such a law.
