Instructions for the Consultant's Corner
This component of the Participation grade provides you with an opportunity to APPLY your critical thinking skills and knowledge of course concepts to a specific Human Resources Management-related organizational situation.
Your recommendations as a Consultant for a particular case should be related to concepts covered in the course you are taking - if it is a Compensation course, then compensation practices should be included in your recommendations; if it is a Training and Development course, then T&D practices should be included.
If you are taking the Intro Course (mgmt4510), then your choices are wide open.
As a Consultant be sure to clearly identify and address the following FOUR Steps:
ONE - Analysis
What are the healthy and the unhealthy dynamics that are involved in the case?
TWO - Prediction
What will happen if the situation is NOT addressed?
THREE - Options
What different courses of action might be taken to address the situation?
FOUR - Recommendations
What course of action would you choose if you were in charge of the organization?
Discussion Groups at the course website have been created for 7 consulting situations. The course syllabus will indicate the minimum number of these 7 cases that you are expected to do.
There are Discussion Forums for the following 7 case scenarios at the Course Website:
Office Romance
Privacy
Ethics
Whistleblowing
Negotiation
Personal Disclosure
Diversity in Hiring
Select any one of these 7 case scenarios and proceed to the next screen.
