Assignment: Career Paper
Write a 4-6-page, double-spaced (11 or 12 font) reflective paper on your career goals and aspirations. This requires at least 8 total sources, including 3-4 interviews with industry professionals (preferably in-person interviews, but telephone or email is acceptable).
The career paper should be part reflective about your career goals and then how you plan on achieving them. Intersperse quotes from your interviews into the paper - ask your sources about their careers, advice/tips they can give, etc.
You will need a bibliography (papers without will be an automatic F, or 50). You need to include human sources as well as other trade and academic publications. The paper is due by noon on May 1.
Make the paper personal (your ultimate career goal and path to get you there) - this is information-seeking and also a way to help you self-motivate and actualize your goals and passions!
Paper grades will be based on quality/quantity of interviews/sources; clear writing that is free of grammatical errors/typos; logical structure and organization; effective use of quotes.

Prospect for employment and factors affecting growth
Typical day on the job
Aptitude, attributes and life experiences needed to succeed

Some potential questions for informational interviews include (but as always, you have creative and intellectual freedom):
How did you get your first job? What are your responsibilities? How would you characterize your work environment? What do you like most/least about your job? What individual personality traits are best suited for this field? How does this career affect your lifestyle? How do salaries in your field compare with those of other fields? What are the current challenges facing professionals in your field? What benefits does your organization/career field offer? What are the employment prospects for someone entering this career field? How secure are positions in your field? What is the growth and promotional potential? What advice do you have for someone preparing for this field (courses, activities, experience)? Does your organization offer internships? What tips would you offer someone seeking a position in the field/organization? If you were beginning your career today, what would you do differently?
