What are the design considerations for a piping system for the transfer of slurries?
The below points should be considered for designing a piping system to carry slurries:
> Design of the piping system must be able to self-drain.
> At the sections of pipe where self-draining isn't possible provision to install manual draining should be installed.
> At certain points where chances of plugging are high, blow-out or rod-out connections should be provided to clear the lines.
> In order to make flushing possible there should be clean-out connections installed on either side of the main valves.
> For easy access all manifolds should have flanged connections.
> T-connections are a must for access flanges.
