Directions: After reading chapters and the U.S Constitution write a 750 to 1000 word double spaced essay addressing three of the following:
- What are the core ideals of the U.S. political system?
- How does the social contract reflect the ideals of the American political system?
- What are the "rules" of the American political system?
- What are the various views of political power?
- How did colonial and revolutionary experience help shape the U.S. political system?
- What compromise was necessary to secure the ratification of the U.S. Constitution?
- What are the chief differences between the type of government supported by the federalists and the one proposed by the anti - federalists?
- What are the advantages of republicanism over democracy? Which type of government is supported by the power structure of the U.S. government?
- Over time, how has the Constitution been altered to grant more authority to the people?
- How does the granting of powers by the Constitution support federalism?
Procedure:
Reflecting on what you have read, choose three of the ten questions above to consider.
You should then find connections and/or relationships between the three topics you have chosen.
In at least two additional sources you should find support for your arguments (connections/relationships).
Finally, compose a 750 to 1000 word essay (double - spaced, 12 font, 1" margins) discussing and justifying the interrelated nature of your chosen topics. Make sure to support your arguments by providing additional evidence from outside sources. Be certain to cite all outside information using the required format.
