Supporting Diversity
The case study at the beginning of Chapter Fourteen is typical of an ECE classroom today. Diversity in many forms beyond language and ethnicity is standard in the majority of our schools. After reading Chapters Eight and Fourteen, share three skills or understanding that would best prepare an early childhood educator to work with diverse learners and diverse backgrounds. Reference these skills to specific pages within your text. What are the challenges you see when trying to support children and families in diverse communities?
