There is no shortage of "how-to" books on how to sustain a happy marriage. There are "recipes" and steps offered in popular magazine articles and websites that couples can follow to ensure a successful union. Over the past decade, the percentage of married people living together has declined from 52% to 50%. Interestingly, the divorce rate has also decreased (US Census Bureau, 2021).

As a Developmental Psychology student, what research-based information would you share with recently married couples about how to make a marriage work? What are the benefits of having a good marriage? Opinions are welcome but make sure you can back them up with credible research.
