Problem: You will notice (eventually) that the esteemed author of your textbook mentions the uses of the results of assessments throughout the text. However, he NEVER mentions giving grades as a reason to test (or assess). If giving grades are never mentioned, why do we put so much emphasis on them? What are the alternatives to giving grades? What are some of the unusual reasons that there is such an emphasis on them? You have all been in an academic environment for over 15 years and all have experience with grades.
