Stigma symbols label an individual in a negative manner. For example, food stamps (which actually used to be paper coupons that looked like stamps, but now look like a debit card) are a stigma symbol because they label the user as someone who is receiving public assistance.
What are some other stigma symbols of poverty you can think of? How do they stereotype and stigmatize people? What can you do to change these perceptions?
