Problem
One can think of a college course as a program. (In fact, a 3-hour class requires more time and energy LE than many social service programs.) The elements of the program consist of (i) reading assignments, (ii) class discussions, (iii) lectures, and (iv) projects such as term papers. The outcomes that university and future employers value include (i) the mastery of content; (ii) the development of information management skills such as writing, analysis of arguments, and synthesis of information; and (iii) the development of meta-skills such as organization, self-discipline, and maintaining good interpersonal relationships. What are some needed intermediate steps if the elements of the program are to lead to desired outcome skills?
