First, if we are to treat non-violent or rehabilitate them, how will this be accomplish? Who will bear the cost? Are we then just shifting costs from one line to another?
Second, if we put people to death immediately, how do you respond to those reports of exonerated death row inmates who were on death rows for years and only with time and in some cases, technology, were they able to be proven innocent? Or to put it more succinctly, what if innocent people were put to death, in haste?

Class, let me refine this question a bit: What are some 'leading' and what are some 'lagging' economic indicators such that some are predictive of an economy's direction (growth or slowdown) and some are confirmation of an economy's direction (it affirms that the economy is growing or slowing down)?
