1. What are loaded words? Provide some examples.
Review some of the e-mails you have received or sent. Provide some background to these e-mails and then share some of the loaded words that could have or did cause a problem with the receiver/sender.
2. Class, word choice is very important when writing, and it is especially important in technical writing. Each writing genre has its own style. Technical writing should be objective/neutral, providing needed direction. Some individuals are offended by sexist writing and prefer to have politically correct words/phrases. Review some of the letters, memos, etc. that you have received and look for any of this sexist language. How could you revise it?
