Problem: The rise of powerful Southern states (including China and India) has meant that Northern voices no longer solely define development discourse. Various models of development and conflict reconstruction have come in for criticism as the lived experience of those in the Global South has become more visible to those in the Global North.
This has occurred as the pace of globalization has reached an important tempo - global markets and civil society has meant that global politics are also local politics. What are the limits to and potential of development practices in the near future?
