Homework: The A.R.I.A Test Worksheet
The following questions will help you determine whether or not your source is reliable. Answer each of the questions for each category below. Once you've answered each question in a category, assign the category a numerical score based on the number of points indicated in parentheses next to the category, with 1 meaning the source does not meet the criteria of the category at all and the highest possible score meaning the source meets the criteria of the category excellently. Then, add up the scores to determine whether the source passes the (A.R.I.A.) test!
Category I: Accuracy
1. Is the information supported by evidence and references?
2. Has the information been peer-reviewed?
3. Is the source professional in appearance and free of errors?
Category II: Relevance :
1. Does the information relate to your project?
2. Have you looked at a variety other sources? Do other sources meet your needs more effectively?
3. Who is the intended audience of the source?
Category III: Intent
1. What is the author's purpose? To inform? Persuade? Entertain?
2. Is the information fact or opinion?
3. Does the point of view seem to be objective or biased?
Category IV: Authority
1. Who is the author?
2. What are the author's credentials or organizational affiliations?
3. Is the source published by a reputable organization?
Format your homework according to the give formatting requirements:
1. The answer must be double spaced, typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the course title, the student's name, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
3. Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
