1. Many rural communities offer few choices for mental health services. In addition, members of the community may know one another due to limited social circles, as well. You might find it of interest to search scholarly articles or textbooks for more information about this issue; it has been the focus of many within the field.
Question: What ethical concerns might be faced by both the practitioner and the client if a rural community member required mental health testing or counseling, and how might they be effectively addressed? What different ethical concerns might be faced in other settings?
2. Do you think that some forms of mental illness or psychological disorders still bear some social stigma?
Are some careers still hindered if the individual has been diagnosed with a mental illness or psychological disorder? If so, would this affect testing or willingness to engage in testing? In what way?
