ABM for education and understanding ABM provides us with a new way of understanding the world around us. ABM has many uses in research. But ABM also has great potential as a tool for education. For instance, molecules in a free gas can be thought of as agents moving around and colliding with each other. Examine the GasLab Free Gas model (found in the Chemistry and Physics section of the models library). Do you think this model is easier to understand than a traditional equation-based approach to understanding Free Gas phenomena? What affordances does the ABM approach give us that traditional approaches lack? Are there ways that ABM can be more confusing than traditional approaches? If so how?
