Problem:
Jaime sees little value in learning how to read and take notes effectively because so much information is readily available online. She doesn't need to take notes in her Advanced Calculus and Organic Chemistry classes because she can watch videos of others explaining the concepts. This attitude makes it more difficult for her to stay motivated to attend class. So far, her grades are good and she feels as though she understands the material. What more does her college wants her to do? Jaime's ultimate career goal is to be a public health advocate where she goes into communities to learn more about what health issues they are experiencing and how her organization can help them achieve their health goals. Jaime is a good listener, so she doesn't see how these academic skills are necessary when she gets into the world of work.
