Problem
Ms. Betty is working very hard after attending a professional development workshop on the anti-bias curriculum to ensure that she has a more inclusive program. This morning she found an eagle feather and put it with the other materials representing Native American culture.
However, the mother of one of the children in the program, a Native American woman, saw the feather. She was very upset and told Ms. Betty she should not be playing with the eagle feathers because they were sacred to many tribes. Betty became discouraged and distraught about her intentions to become more culturally sensitive.
