Which Factors Influence Risk-Taking?
Emerging adults sometimes make choices that put them at risk for health problems, accidents, and even death. (Included is substance use disorder and drug addiction, among other risks.)
Think about the riskiest action you voluntarily took in your young adult life. (You do not need to give details!) Answer the following questions:
a) Compared to people in other age groups (grown-ups, children, etc.), were you more likely to take the risk than they would have been? Why?
b) Compared to people in other countries or cultures, were you more likely to take the risk than they would have been? (What specific country or culture are you comparing?)
c) Compared to people of a different sex/gender, were you more likely to take the risk than they would have been? Why?
