We all use certain language to describe events. People have developed certain comforting concepts to explain both the predictability and the randomness of life events. For instance, evolution is not random at all. If it were some people would have three legs, two heads, etc. There are some random events, however, such as siamese twins, genetic abnormalities, and natural events. The concept of Karma (fate) or the usual response "there must have been a reason" usually means "I can't explain it" or "somebody messed up." Why do you think people want to fill in the gaps in order to make sense out of the senseless? What would Locke and Hobbes have to say about that?
