VIRTUAL TERMINAL
In open systems, a virtual terminal (VT) is a submission service that:
1. Allows host terminals on a multi-user network to work together with other hosts in spite of of terminal type and characteristics,
2. Permit remote log-on by local area network managers for the principle of management,
3. Permit users to access information from another host processor for transaction processing,
4. Serves as a support facility.
ITU-T defines a virtual terminal protocol based on the OSI application layer protocols. though, the virtual terminal protocol is not extensively used on the Internet.
