Virtual team development


I am a member of the Organization Development team. I have been asked to review the scholarly and professional research on virtual team dynamics, including the predictable stages of virtual team development, and to formulate recommendations for my executive leaders to use in helping the next group of teams to recognize and move successfully through these stages. My report will be used to guide the next round of team development.
This assignment will be written to my executive leaders which include best practices for virtual team development, and analyze the predictable stages of virtual team development (description and overview),and offers recommendations, supporting this analysis and recommendations with resources
The predictable stages are as follows:
1. Identifying team sponsor, stakeholder, champions
2. Developing a team charter which includes teams purpose, mission, goals
3. Selecting team members
4. Contacting team members
5. Conducting orientation sessions that focuses on explaining the tasks, team norms, technological planning, communication plan, and team building.
6. Developing team processes, such as mechanisms, review points, and documentation
