Writer's Autobiography:
Are you a writer? Of course you are - you've been writing most of your life. Do you see yourself as a writer? Probably not......
I'd like you to write a 300-word journal in which you explore the various aspects of your writing life:
1) What writing "tools" do you use?
-Pencil? What type, specifically? Why that kind? Wood? Mechanical? What size lead?
-Pen? What kind: ballpoint?, fountain?, Roller ball?, Plastic?, Metal?, Thin?, Thick? Padded? What color ink? Why?
-Computer? Be specific...
-Paper? What type: spiral notebook?, composition theme book?, loose leaf?, wide-ruled?, college-ruled?, legal pad?, day planner?, white paper?, yellow?, other colors? WHY???
2) Where do you write?
-Dorm room?
-Library?
-Bedroom?
-Bathroom?
-Car?
-Other?
3) Under what conditions do you write?
-Absolute silence?
-Some "distractions"? (T.V., music, computer?) What show? What type of music?
-Lots of distractions?
-Doesn't matter?
4) Other "necessities"?
-Food? What kind?
-Drink? What kind?
-Cigarettes? (I'm really not asking what kind)
5) Writing successes? (inside or outside educational settings)
6) Writing disasters? (courses, teachers, etc. Don't name names, just describe what happened).
7) Blogs? Facebook? Twitter? Texting?
These are suggestions for your journal. You need not answer all the questions; they're intended as rough guidelines and triggers for thought/writing.
Please type (but don't edit/correct - it's just a journal).
