Assignment:
3-19 A two-workstation system processes two different kinds of parts. Parts of type 1 arrive according to an exponential interarrival -time distribution with mean 5.5 (all times are given in minutes) and are first process in workstation 1, and then workstation 2; each workstation has only a single server. Parts of type 2 arrive according to exponential interarrival-time distribution with mean 9 and are processed only in workstation 2. The first arrival of both types of parts at time o, and both types are in the same FIFO queue for workstation 2 and have the same priority there as each other. The processing time at workstation 1 follows a triangular distribution with a minimum of 2, mode of 5 and maximum of 9.
The processing time at workstation 2 for both parts follows a uniform distribution between 1 and 5. Run you simulation for a single replication of one (7-day) week (around the clock of the days) and observe the mean total time in system for part of type 1 and 2sepraratly (HINT: in your module Create module give the two parts types different entity types, then in Category overview report look under Entity Time-Total Time), the time- average number of parts in the system of each type separately, the average time in each queue of all parts combined, the time-average length of each queue, and the utilizations of the resources at each workstation. Animate your queues and resources, and include a plot of each queue separately on the same axes.
