Task 1 -
Using the information given, determine the following and explain how you arrived at the conclusion:
- The time period
- The frequency
- The amplitude
Task 2 -
Determine the result of adding the following voltage waveforms both (a) graphically and (b) by phasor diagram:
V1 = 50 sin (628t + π/2)
V2 = 23 sin (314t - π/6)
For part (a), you need to show 3 waves in total. Each wave needs to be labelled and evidence of how you calculated the totals also needs to be shown (such as the spreadsheet used or workings out)
For part (b), you need to draw phasors and show working out by use of trigonometry, how the phasors have been added and how the resultant was arrived at.
Task 3 -
Use an oscilloscope to measure and determine the inputs and outputs of a single phase AC circuit.
The following circuit (higain.ewb) is available as a model in the folder (if you have downloaded EWB to your machine):
C:\Program Files (x86)\EWB512\CIRCLIITS
and as an attachment below.
Open this circuit in EWB and set the switch to "1". The oscilloscope will display two waveforms. Using the controls and the display on the oscilloscope determine the inputs (blue wave) and the output (red wave). You will need to measure:
- time period (and hence frequency)
- peak voltage
- phase difference
Show all working and describe how you completed the measurements. You may wish to include screenshots.
