Assignment - "Current Events Research"
Using online news resources such as CNN, MSNBC, or Yahoo! News, find an article about a piece of legislation that is currently being debated. Once you've chosen a topic you like, find two other articles about the same piece of legislation, or same issue, from other news agencies online or in the print media.
Write a summary of the issue, citing your three articles as your sources. Be sure to include a proper source list with your summary. Your summary should be double spaced and 1-2 pages in length.
When you've finished this assignment - submit your work to your instructor.
Grading Rubric:
- Topic of essay is a piece of legislation being debated at the time of writing
- Bibliography including 3 different news articles is included
- Essay is between 1-2 full pages in length
- Essay is well written, showing a synthesis of information from the three articles and the student's understanding of the topic
