Uses of Formic acid - Carboxylic acids
(a) Formic acid is used in the laboratory for preparation of carbon monoxide.
(b) Formic acid is used in the preservation of fruits.
(c) Formic acid is used in textile dyeing and finishing.
(d) Formic acid is used in leather tanning.
(e) Formic acid is used as coagulating agent for rubber latex.
(f) Formic acid is used in as an antiseptic and in the treatment of gout.

(i) Formic acid is used in the preparation of nickel formate which is used as a catalyst in the hydrogenation of oils.
