Use of Bacterial vaginosis In pregnancy
Bacterial vaginosis has been associated with premature labor and complications of delivery, and symptomatic bacterial vaginosis in pregnancy should be treated (CC Tebes et al, Infect Dis Obstet Gynecol 2003; 11:123). In controlled trials, however, treatment of asymptomatic bacterial vaginosis in pregnant women with oral metronidazole has not consistently reduced the frequency of adverse pregnancy outcomes, and vaginal clindamycin has not decreased the incidence of preterm delivery.
