Understanding of the purpose of an academic persuasive essay


Assignment task: Understanding the purpose of your writing can help to ensure clarity and comprehension of your ideas by your respective audience. Whether we are writing an email to a coworker or writing an academic essay, quality written communications occur when there is a clear purpose for the writing. As noted in the "Purposes" reading from Purdue OWL, academic essays are typically written for one of two purposes: 1) to inform or 2) to persuade. As noted in the Academic Essay instructions, I need a persuasive essay. For this discussion,  I need to show an initial understanding of the purpose of my essay and include four considerations for purpose when the intention is to influence or persuade an audience. I need to support my claims with citations from the course readings and videos using the appropriate citation style.

Can I get more clarification on what is 1) INFORM AND 2) PERSUADE?
