Understanding about genetic or environmental factors

Problem 1. The first question requires you to demonstrate your understanding about the genetic or environmental factors that influence the probability that a person will commit a violent act. Describe at least two lines of evidence that point to genetic contributions to violent actions and two lines of evidence that support the notion that environmental factors can influence a person to commit a violent act. Then, use an example of a particular type of violent action and identify potential genetic and environmental influences for that action.

Problem 2. The second question relates to your critical evaluation of methods to deal with violent acts in an individual. First, describe whether you consider it ethical to punish people who commit violent acts and provide a detailed reason for this position. Second, describe what role, if any, that rehabilitation could play in response to a person's violent act, again providing detailed reasoning for this position. Finally, provide at least two ideas for what individuals, institutions, or society as a whole could do to reduce the likelihood of violent acts occurring. For, each of these three points, explain your ideas using an example.
