Under standard state conditions at 37 oC, a biochemical reaction :
A ↔ B + C
has an equilibrium constant K = 0.0422 mol/dm3.
(i) Calculate the standard reaction Gibbs energy.
(ii) In the cytoplasm of a cell at 37 oC, the concentrations are:
[A] = 0.0446 M, [B]= [C]= 1.5 x 10-4 M. Calculate the reaction Gibbs energy under these conditions, and comment on your answer.
