Question- Used steel wool to clean oxide coating off two strips of copper metal and weighed each before and after. The two copper strips were placed in a beaker containing 60 ml of 1 M copper (ii) sulfate and wires were fastened to the strips and connected to an ammeter and a DC 6 volt (3 amp) power supply.
Initial/final weight strip 1 - 6.5144 g/6.429 g
Initial/final weight strip 2 - 4.8809 g/5.022 g
Initial/Final/Average reading of ammeter - 500 milliamps
Ran system at 1.5 amps for about 5 minutes
Use the experimental time, current and mass change data to calculate both the value of Faraday and Avogadro's number and estimate the random error in the calculated values. Are the errors mostly random or systematic and why?
I just need a general explanation of it please- Thanks!
