Hydrostatic pressure
1. Two groundwater monitoring wells are located 100 m apart. The pressure of the water in the wells are measured using pressure transducers that reads gage pressure. Using the information given below, determine 1) the depth from ground surface to groundwater table for well #1 and well #2, and 2) the direction of flow between the 2 wells.
Well #1:
Ground level elevation = 1200 m
Well stickup height = 1 m
Pressure transducer sensor depth from the top of the stickup = 10 m Pressure (gage) reading = 47.15 kN/m2
Well #2:
Ground level elevation = 1202 m
Well stickup height = 1 m
Pressure transducer sensor depth from the top of the stickup = 10 m Pressure (gage) reading = 45.2 kN/m2
