Twisted pair cables comes in two appearance :
Unshielded twisted pair cable :
UTP : UTP cables is the most common types of telecommunication medium used today. Its frequency range is suitable for transmitted both data and voice. A twisted pairs consists of two conductors (usually copper), each with ''its own coloured plastic insulation. The plastics insulation is color banded for identification. Colour are used both to identify he specific conductors in a cable and to indicate which wires belong in pairs and how they relate to other pairs in a larger bundle.
Shielded Twisted Pair Cable:
STP: cable has meal foil or braided mesh covering that encases each pair of insulated conductor. the meal casing prevents the penetration the electromagnetic noise. It also can eliminate crosstalk.
Standed and Solid:
Both UTP and STP come in stranded and solid wire varieties. The stranded wire is the most ordinary and is also very flexible for twisting around corners. Solid wire has less attenuation and spans longer distances, but is less flexible than stranded and cannot be repeatedly twisted.
