Discussion:
Charles has been on the force long enough to notice some areas that could be improved. Have you ever had an idea, but you could never get buy-in from your management or your co-workers? In this discussion, you are going to practice persuading people through persuasive writing.
Of course, it is easy to give your opinion. But Charles knows that, in order for him to persuade someone, he needs to support his opinions with reliable facts and background information.
For this discussion, pick a topic that has no clear right or wrong answer. You are going to formulate a persuasive paragraph trying to convince someone on your point of view. If you like, you can use the topic, "Should we eat meat?" Make sure you review the lesson on introductory paragraphs before starting this discussion.
Write a sample introductory paragraph, including a sample thesis statement, in which you state your argument/opinion regarding the practice topic you've chosen to work with. Please note that this practice topic is unrelated to the topic you'll use for your final persuasion-based research paper; you're using it for this Module 1 Discussion practice task only
