Requirements for Optional Extra Credit Paper
Topic: Reforming the financial system. Pick a sub-topic within this general topic area. It must be a minimum of 7 pages long (basic text), double-spaced, and typed. Title pages, bibliography, etc., are extra.
Your paper must have a bibliography and you must use some generally accepted presentation style (i.e. MLA, Chicago, etc.). Once you pick a style, be consistent.
You must turn in a full copy of any material that you use off the Internet or from magazines and news articles. Any books cited must have a copy of the title page enclosed with your document.
You must decide whether to do a paper no later than the class period following the return of exam 2. I will pass around sign-up sheets. The paper cannot hurt your grade - it is net points added to your total score. However, once you commit to doing a paper-you must complete it.
The weight of the paper can be significant. A good paper can raise one test score 1 to 2 grade points (i.e. for example if you received a D grade on exam one it could raise it to a B grade). The paper's purpose is to assist students struggling in the class. It has the greatest potential effect of a student's overall grade at the lower end of the grade spectrum (For example, raising a D grade to a C grade).
