To what extent do you think climate change was responsible

Problem: During the Holocene, climate changes have been much smaller in magnitude than those of the Pleistocene. Nonetheless, Holocene climate changes have had significant landscape and ecological effects. They also appear to have had major impacts on human settlements and cultures. For example, the decline and/or relocation of cultures and settlements from the Norse in Greenland to the Ancestral Puebloan in the Southwest U.S. to the Mayan of Central America have been linked by some researchers to climate change, just to name a few examples.

Do some reading on the internet or elsewhere on these or other examples. Do not feel limited to the examples I give here. Tell us, how' did climate change affect these people? To what extent do you think climate change was responsible for the decline and disappearance of these settlements and cultures? Or were other factors more important? Do you think there are any lessons about the effects of climate change on ancient peoples that apply to us in the 21st century?
