Once again we are compelled to ask ourselves questions concerning the relationship that businesses have with the government and the general public. We can see that the modern day corporation provides a challenge to this understanding precisely because of the power they wield economically, socially, and politically. In the case of Li Shi, a powerful argument could be made that Yahoo did not have to report him because their servers were located in Hong Kong. However, this argument skirts around the larger question concerning a corporation's responsibility to observe the laws of a society that they do business in. What do you guys think; do corporations have an obligation to work against laws deemed immoral, such as this case where freedom of the press was suppressed? Or should they be required to obey the law regardless? To what degree can a corporation be understood as a person?
