Purpose
To select excellent food sources of vitamin C that would meet your personal daily DRI for vitamin C. Based on your dietary analysis, it is highly likely you did not meet your DRI for vitamin C if you do not include 5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. Vitamin C is one of the most popular single supplements sold and most people take vitamin C for preventing a cold or reducing risk of infection. Supporting a healthy immune system is one of many important functions of vitamin C but it does NOT prevent the common cold. This activity will let you practice selecting vitamin C rich foods to meet your daily needs. Since vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin, we need it every day.
