READING COMPREHENSION
To be successful as a graduate student, you need to be able to read and learn on your own outside of class. This assignment is designed to test your ability to read a short text and answer questions about it.
THE ASSIGNMENT
You need to carefully and critically read the article provided. You then need to answer the following questions in paragraph form in a Microsoft Word document:
- What is the author's main claim? Answer in 1-2 sentences.
- What are the reasons the author gives for his/her main claim? Answer with at least 1 sentence for each claim.
- What evidence does the author give for each claim you identified above? Evidence might include examples, statistical data, interview responses, or theoretical application.
- Do you agree with the author? Why or why not? Explain in 4-6 sentences.
