Taken together, Baron and Selber paint a picture of technologies--especially writing technologies--as emerging from social and historical contexts, as well as having a profound effect on the social fabric. In thinking of; specific social effects of technologies, why writing technologies are important, and what technologies we should be using to write, use a concept or term from Baron and/or Selber (e.g., the stages of literacy technology, change, progress, transparency, etc.) to connect the two of the supplementary ideas. How can we better understand the technologies discussed in the supplementary readings?
