Discussion Assignment -
This week's Discussion deals with the important topic of whether money is a motivator for increased job performance and satisfaction. Look at your own history of how you have been compensated, what problems you saw with it as a motivator (or not) and what ideas you might have for improving it. Basically use your own personal work experience as the background for assessing various compensation systems you have encountered-- from your current job or previous positions. Feel free to comment on any part of the compensation package-- base pay, incentives, recognition programs or stock options.
- Your assignment is to post one (1) research article that highlights the question of whether money is a motivator; and what successful approaches that have been implemented that create a true incentive for employees. In your comments, explain this new approach, why it differs from the more traditional approach, and what success has it had.
- Add your own experience or your own view points of how you believe the current performance systems can be improved.
