This demonstrates skill diversity across products

Cost effectiveness might be a good idea for those who might want to help others learn some of the techniques associated with image editing/manipulation also. For example, we might want to show family, friends, or coworkers how to perform some sort of image enhancement technique, but the other parties may not have access to Photoshop or the funds to use a costly application such as Photoshop. In this respect, knowing alternative products (cheaper or free) may be beneficial to those who wish to learn/participate in this domain but are unable to secure a proprietary software package. That we have the knowledge of other/similar applications allows us to not only recommend the product, but also demonstrate techniques that are common to most image/photo editors. Thus, we can provide assistance and flex our image editing muscles across multiple products. This demonstrates skill diversity across products and may help businesses, too, that might not be able to invest in the likes of Photoshop as well.
