This assignment is a 1500 word 'clinical update' journal article. The format for this article is similar to that of the 'ANF clinical update' series published in the Australian Nursing Journal (ANJ). Examples of these articles will be available on the unit Blackboard site - note these are examples only and may not meet all the requirements of this assignment. There are also some examples of previous student papers that received a HD.
- Only submit via TurnItIn, NO hardcopy required! Please refer to information on TurnItIn on Blackboard under assignments)
- Include cover sheet, title and contents pages and end-reference list. NO marking guide needs to be attached as TurnItIn creates it as we mark online.
- Late submissions and extensions have to use the 'late submission' link
- Although the general format of the assignment is like the clinical update articles, the formatting is still according to ECU guidelines (so not like the ANJ) with regards to layout and referencing (refer to ECU referencing guide).
You will randomly be assigned a specific topic. The heading format for this assignment will depend on your topic but will need to include:
- A definition/explanation about the nature of the condition/disease process.
- An overview of the relevant aetiology (including risk factors and some epidemiological data); pathogenesis (the clinical course of the disease, complications); signs and symptoms; comprehensive diagnostic process; treatment options/interventionsincluding medication types, doses, side effects; and health promotion.
- A short introduction that includes why the information is relevant to the practice of a registered nurse and captures the reader's attention. You do not require a conclusion as such, but may want to summarise pertinent points in a box.
