This assessment aims to provide students with the opportunity to hone their analytical and decision- making skills. It also aims to help students develop their ability to think creatively in order to present a market research issue. Each student must submit a market research presentation using PowerPoint. Submission will be electronically via "Assignments" on vUWS.
You only need to answer QUESTION 1 of the case study. Do NOT answer questions 2-5.
Details
In Week 2, students will be advised of the case study which must be used for this assessment. Students will have access to the background of the case, the questionnaire and the printed output from the dataset. The output is available for downloading and printing via vUWS under "Individual Assignments". The data you want to present should be entered into Excel (either manually, or cutting and pasting from the original document) to create the relevant graphs and charts. These can easily be copied into PowerPoint for the final presentation.
Students must use all tools (the data tables via VUWS, Excel and PowerPoint) in order to design a presentation which must be submitted via the vUWS "Assignment" tab. It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that they have access to vUWS as well as Gradebook. Failure to do so may result in a zero grade being allocated to this assessment.
The PowerPoint presentation should consist of the following:
1. Identification of the problem
2. Research objective(s)
3. Data analysis
4. Summary and recommendations
There is no predefined page (or slide) limit to the assessment; however length of the presentation does not guarantee a good grade. Marks will be awarded for clear, concise information that accurately identifies the items above and provides a practical solution to the case. Marks will be deducted for those presentations which do not utilise the software noted above.
Due: Individual case studies are due by Wednesday 5.00pm, in Week 13 of the Semester. Presentations should be submitted via "Assignments" on vUWS. Hardcopies will not be accepted unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Hint: It is strongly recommended that you start this task no later than Week 8. Data analysis usually takes longer than expected, and students who rush this assignment tend to submit presentations that are below the acceptable standard.
Hint: Examples of a market research presentation will be available on vUWS. Please use these as a guideline to assist you. However, students copying the format exactly may not receive the marks they expect.
